Common elimination communication myths include: EC is always diaper-free, you must wait until a toddler is “ready,” EC takes all day, and it is unsafe. In practice EC is usually done with nappy backup, can start from birth, fits into daily routines, and stays noncoercive.
Myth: diaper-free only. Most ECB parents use backup. Squish (poonami) happens less when you catch more — backup still allowed.
Myth: wait for readiness. Babies can be assisted from birth. See Is EC safe?
Myth: it takes forever. Short, well-timed offers beat hovering all day. Part-time works.
